There are so many types of textbooks and course materials out there to consider. Building curriculum which incorporates textbooks and course materials while still maintaining quality is a faculty concern which has been brought to our attention throughout our OER-scaling efforts. We understand that in some instances -- due to lack of time or the selection of existing OERs -- faculty still want to lessen the cost of higher education for their students, but just need options in addition to OERs to fulfill their curricular needs.
EBSCO's Faculty Select allows for simplification of this work by bringing together many options such as "quality open textbooks, Open Educational Resources (OER), and the ability to request access to unrestricted library e-books from top academic publishers. By leveraging free open materials and low-cost library-licensed resources, faculty can transform their course and reduce the cost burden for students" (EBSCO Information Services). Searching, accessing, and requesting this range of textbook and course material types happens in one clean and welcoming interface.
