What are reserve materials?
Course reserves are materials that have been placed in the library by instructors to provide equal access for all students in their class. Textbooks placed on reserve generally must be used in the library, are due the same day and incur higher fines. Failure to return the items on time will result in a $5.00/day charge until returned and a hold on your college records. Reserve items are for the use of MCC students and staff and located behind the circulation desk at both the Bedford and Lowell campus libraries.

What kind of material can be placed on reserve?
Any item in the libraries' collection can be placed on reserve by an instructor. In addition, the library will accept personal copies of textbooks, articles, media, sample tests, and realia (such as skulls). Personal copies must comply with copyright regulations.
How do I place items on reserve?
The library requires instructors to fill out a Course Reserves form with their name, contact information, class number and description as well as information about the items being placed on reserve. Reserve materials are normally restricted to library use only or overnight. Please let the staff know how long your class materials should circulate. Personal materials must be presented with the form. At the end of the year our staff will make every attempt to contact you to determine if the materials should continue on reserve. If we are unable to contact you materials will be added to the collection at our discretion. To ensure that the materials are available to your class when needed please allow 72 hours for processing
