How to Search in a Database

Below will show guide you in researching on the database U.S. History in Context. You could also use the same steps to search in the Biography database. After clicking on the database, enter the name or movement (like Underground Railroad) in the search box

It'll take to a page that has different types of information

Academic Journals: Scholarly articles written by experts

Primary Sources: Original documents of the time, excerpts from the books they wrote or documents

Featured Content: Content the database highlighted

Reference: Background information through encyclopedia entries

Biographies: Background information about the person’s life

Audio: Recent podcasts or online news stories

Images: Images related to the person or historical event

Videos: Videos or clips related to the person or historical event

News: Recent newspaper articles about the person or historical event

Magazines: Magazines articles about the person or historical event

You found an article you like! On the right hand side, there is a column of Tools. Use the citation tool to get the citation for the article, download it, email it to yourself, or print it!
