BIO 116: The Brain, from Molecules to the Mind (Cremins): Twitter

@ vs #

What's the different between @ and #

@middlesex_cc is addressing a user. Think of of it as AT SOMEONE. In the case of @middlesex_cc, it's addressing the community college

#Blacklivesmatter is related to a movement, issue, or trend. It's a way to search, like Google. So #Blacklivesmatter is searching for tweets related to the movement or a class.

Using social media platforms, like Twitter, are extremely useful but  you also need to approach with caution. Fact check any statements, and check the author's credibility.

You have two ways to search on Twitter, through their regular search box or their advanced search.  In the regular search box, I've included a hashtag #. On the advanced search, I didn't. Below are both examples.

In the results page, you'll have options to search for different types of sources, such as latest posts, photos, videos, and news. On the left column, you have the ability to filter your search further. Below is a sample results page.

You found a Tweet you'd like to use, you need to save it. When you're searching on Twitter on the computer, there's usually an arrow on the upper right hand side. Once you click on it, you'll see an option to copy link to Tweet. DO THIS! Twitter is alive social media platform, so there's a possibility of not finding the same Tweet.
