Autism Appreciation Month: Autism Organizations

The US Department of Health & Human Services provides this website for anyone looking for private and non-profit agencies and organizations that provide research funding, support, and information for people with autism or other developmental disabilities and their families.

 

 

 The National Autism Association

 The NAA's mission is to "respond to the most urgent needs of the autism community, providing real help and   hope so that all affected can reach their full potential." On their website, they provide support, downloadable   toolkits and resources, and NAA programming centered around safety and advocacy for autistic people of all ages. 

 

 Autism Society

 The Autism society is the oldest and largest grassroots Autism organization, and nationally serves over half a   million people every year. This organization "strives to empower individuals with Autism and their families to make informed decisions in the planning and delivery of individualized, evidence-based services and support."

 

 Autistic Self Advocacy Network

 ASAN "seeks to advance the principles of the disability rights movement with regard to autism. ASAN   believes that the goal of autism advocacy should be a world in which autistic people enjoy equal access, rights, and opportunities. We work to empower autistic people across the world to take control of our own lives and the future of our common community, and seek to organize the autistic community to ensure our voices are heard in the national conversation about us."

 

 Association for Autism and Neurodiversity

 AANE's mission is to "help Autistic and similarly Neurodivergent people build meaningful, connected lives. We   provide individuals, families, and professionals with education, community and support, in an inclusive atmosphere of validation and respect."
