What are Federal Electrions?

In the Federal elections, you vote for:

  • U.S. House of Representatives (position is a 2-year term)
  • U.S. Senate (position is a 6-year term)

What is the Electoral College?Voting cubicles with signs that read vote with the US flag.

"The Electoral College is a process, not a place. The Founding Fathers established it in the Constitution, in part, as a compromise between the election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens" (National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.).The process includes the following:

  • Selection of electors
  • Meeting of electors who cast votes for the president and vice president
  • Counting of the electors’ votes by Congress (USA Gov, 2024).
