Faculty Instructions for creating library resource lists within Blackboard course shells

Links to Assigned Library Resources

Links to Assigned Library Resources is a Blackboard tool for the MCC Libraries licensed discovery service, MCC Search.
It allows faculty to create reading lists using:
  • library subscriptions
  • open educational resources
  • streaming video
  • and other web material
for the whole course or for a specific week, without ever leaving your Blackboard course shell.  You can organize the readings the way you want students to see them.  Students can access these links right from Blackboard.
Adding the link rather than uploading a PDF is helpful to the library – when you use the link, we get to see how much journals, book titles, or particular databases are getting used. This helps us prove how the library is being used and helps us decide which resources are valuable to you and your students. (We only see data like 250 hits on The Atlantic or 87 hits on a particular Nursing journal – not who is reading what – we believe in privacy after all!) Additionally, adding the link to library resources within your Blackboard course means that you (and the library) are compliant with copyright law!
