Library Login from Off-Campus

Hello.  I am Mark Matook, Student Success Librarian of Systems and Electronic Resources for the Middlesex Community College Libraries.  This is MCCLibVids FAQ.  Today, we are answering the question “how do I login from off-campus”.

Students and faculty tend to ask this question when they are trying to access an article, eBook, or one of the video streaming platforms from off-campus.  The first thing that you need to know is that you do not have to look for the login page.  You will be prompted when you need to login.  Simply use the library resources as you normally would and a login page will present itself when necessary.

Once the login page triggers, you will need to enter your library credentials.  For students, enter your A# with a capital “A” as your username.  As your password, the default is your birthday in MMDDYYYY format.  For faculty, enter your MCC username or the first part of your email address — before the “@“ symbol — as your username.  If faculty have not yet established a library account, they may quickly do so by contacting the MCC Libraries.

If faculty, staff, or students have forgotten their password, they may reset it on the login page when prompted by clicking “forgot your password” then entering their username or email address on the resulting page.  Once you login, you may continue to use the MCC Libraries’ many electronic resources.

For some resources like Kanopy, Peterson’s Career Prep, and NoodleTools, you will have to log into the MCC Libraries, as seen in this video, and then create a personal account with the resource.  We recommend that you watch the MCCLibVids for accessing each.  For additional guidance about accessing MCC resources from off-campus, you may wish to consult our guide found on our home page under “Quick Links”, titled “Off-Campus Access and Password Reset”.

If you have any questions about this and other topics, we encourage you to contact an MCC Librarian by visiting our site and using some of the many means of contact.
