Election 2022: Mail-in and Absentee Voting

Every Vote Counts

Vote by Mail

Absentee voting is voting that does not happen in person on Election Day but instead occurs another way—usually by mail. All states allow for some form of absentee balloting. Some states require voters to provide a valid excuse to vote absentee, while others allow any eligible voter to cast an absentee ballot.

Voting by mail is available for all 2022 Massachusetts voters. You do not need an excuse to vote by mail in 2022. You just need to submit your application to your local election office by 5 p.m. on the fifth business day before Election DayYou may still choose to vote in-person instead, even if you requested a mail-in ballot. (From National Conference of State Legislatures)

Already requested a mail-in ballott? Check the status of your ballot. See if the ballot has been mailed to you and make sure your ballot is counted.
